Clearly we both have impeccable taste since we thought of the same book. I've just started 'A Sicilian Romance' and I can see the influence she had on Austen.
I was quite pleased to find that we have similar tastes. I thought you might like the gothic romance of Ann Radcliffe. If I ever get a chance to go back home, I should like to meet her. Both her and Jane really. It is sad to think that I am so close to the end of Janeโs life though. Knowing what I have learned here.
I think she, too, would like to know the impact she had.
I'd kill to meet some of these writers. I wonder though if I'd like Jane as a person. From how often she writes about country girls without a dowry, I have to wonder if it was the same for her.

Back home? Well when they first printed her, they did not print her name. It was not entirely well known. I think she made her name, but-- well, my family and hers did not run in the same circle if you understand. I would have loved to meet her though. I would not have cared who she was other than a brilliant female writer.
