[Eloise has a stack of books bound in a green and red ribbon. The set of books are To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, and A Sicilian Romance by Ann Radcliffe. With the present is a note that reads:]

To Blair,
I hope you enjoy these as much as I have. I would love your opinions on them.
Yours truly,
E.B.

I was quite pleased to find that we have similar tastes. I thought you might like the gothic romance of Ann Radcliffe. If I ever get a chance to go back home, I should like to meet her. Both her and Jane really. It is sad to think that I am so close to the end of Janeโ€™s life though. Knowing what I have learned here.

I think she, too, would like to know the impact she had.

She was, from what I've learned about her here-- mostly.

Back home? Well when they first printed her, they did not print her name. It was not entirely well known. I think she made her name, but-- well, my family and hers did not run in the same circle if you understand. I would have loved to meet her though. I would not have cared who she was other than a brilliant female writer.

That was a rare and marvelous thing for our time.
