At the very least, the motives are predictable? What sci-fi novel doesn't have them coming here for resources? It's honestly no different than what we do.
[She's not going all "flower child", but that was the world they lived in. A place where people mined what they could to get farther. She wasn't much different than the aliens in that sense. Only her war was more allegory.]
I think I'm in the same boat. Things would be more interesting and easier with them, but they wouldn't do well here. All their bad tendencies would come out.
